Amir Jamaat-e- Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hassan on Wednesday said that there is no issue to become president of MMA and the statement of JUI-F leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed is baseless.

Talking to media persons at Okara Press Club on telephone, he said that Hafiz Hussain Ahmed was never included by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in any single delegation for restoration of MMA. He said Hafiz Hussain does not have any idea about the MMA restoration talks, adding that he has no aspiration to become the president of the religious alliance.

Giving reaction regarding US announced bounty for arresting Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Munawar Hassan said that US announcement of award for Hafiz Saeed was very less accordance to his personality because his status is very high in the country.

He said that the Pakistan court had declared Hafiz Saeed innocent and the government handed over American citizen Raymond Davis who killed two Pakistani nationals in Lahore to US government but now it announced award for a Pakistani citizen.

He said that the government should take action and show its reaction on such act of US against a Pakistani citizen, adding that the Foreign Office was still silent in this regard. He said that the Pakistani courts could take action against unlawful acts of US. The JI amir said that US wanted to hide its defeat in war on terror.

He said that Defence Pakistan Council (DPC) meeting would be held Thursday in which strategy would be chalked out for staging protests on US bounty for Hafiz Saeed.
