ISLAMABAD - Besides adopting unanimous stance on the recommendations of Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS), United Opposition is now fast heading towards making other strategies including launching a countrywide protest call on price hike.
After the revival of friendly relations among opposition groups, especially Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), the latter is asking the larger opposition party to jointly announce countrywide protest call on increasing price hike. “JUI-F is convincing Pakistan Muslim League (N) to announce countrywide protest call from opposition platform,” sources in opposition parties told TheNation.
Prior to adopting unanimous stance on different issue, other parliamentary opposition parties had reportedly serious reservation with larger opposition party (PML-N) for not taking them into confidence before adopting any stance on any of national issue.
“JUI-F is hopeful that united opposition would work together in future before adopting any stance. Apart from consensus on PCNS’ recommendation now other strategies are hopefully adopted unanimously,” said JUI-F spokesman sharing the expected stance of opposition parties.
It is relevant to mention here that Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly ostensibly putting pressure on government benches had recently announced that opposition parties would jointly chalk out future strategies.
The understanding between the PML(N) and JUI-F was also observed recently in the National Assembly when abstaining from formal discussion on the recommendations of PCNS both the leaders including Leader of Opposition in NA Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan and JUI-F opted to speak on point of orders. Both the opposition members shared their reservations but made
it clear that they were not participating in debate, as they are raising concerns on point of order.
It is also relevant to mention here that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman a couple of month before wrote a letter to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, purposing a joint strategy on the current situation.
JUI-F, in the letter, has urged PML-N to make joint strategy for snap polls if such situation erupted in future.
Whereas, the political pundits say that some reservations from both the sides might erupt in near future before reaching any consensus. Commenting on this issue, Maulana Ghafoor Haideri of JUI-F has reportedly said that they supported PML(N) hoping that it would jointly adopt a future stance.
