KASUR - Hours long unscheduled loadshedding forced thousands of people to come out on the roads, and observe shutter-down strikes in various parts of Kasur. Lawyers of DBA boycotted the court proceedings to get their protest registered against power outages.

Led by PML-N MPA Ehsan Raza, over 2,000 loadshedding- stricken people staged a demonstration in Illahabad, and blocked Deepalpur Road for hours. The protesters were holding banners and placards with slogans against the federal government and Lesco.

In Mustafabad, about 200 protesters under the leadership of MPA Nadeem Yaqoob Sethi blocked the Ferozpur Road by burning tyres and later, took out a rally from his house and entered the main Bazaar Mustafabad and forced the shopkeepers to close their shops.

A rally led by MNA Sheikh Waseem Akhtar and MPA Naeem Safdar started from Noor Masjid Chowk and concluded at Steel Bagh Chowk. There were almost 1,000 protesters and they blocked Ferozpur Road by burning tyres and chanted slogans against the PPP-led govt and Lesco for its failure to supply uninterrupted power supply to the masses.

Former district nazim Rana Muhammad Hayat and MNA Rana Muhammad Ishaq took out a rally of 500 people in Pattoki from Kashmir Chowk ending at Committee Chowk. The participants raised slogans against Lesco for long power outage.

Former DBA president and Sardar Nabi Ahmed led 200 protesters in Kot Radha Kishan area. The rally started from Kot Radha Kishan Bazaar and concluded at Chungi Raiwind Chowk. The agitators blocked the Kasur-Kot Radha Kishan Road by burning tyres and chanted slogans against Lesco.

Over 200 protesters in Khudian led by former MNA Rasheed Ahmed took out a rally from Baldia Chowk while a shutter-down strike was observed in the town against long loadshedding. Shops in Nia Bazaar, Kot Murad Khan, Grain Market, Bazaar Dalgiran, Railway Road and Circular Road in Kasur remained closed till 1.00 pm during the protests.
