MQM condemns Gilgit killings


KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in firing and grenade attacks in Gilgit. He offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for early recovery of those injured.  In a statement, the MQM Coordination Committee also condemned the assaults, in which innocent people were killed after being taken off from a bus. The committee said that terrorists involved in the gory incident wanted to undermine law and order situation in Gilgit.
The committee said that steps should be taken to stop sectarian killings in Gilgit and action should be taken to restore peace, harmony and amity.  The committee appealed to President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister to take serious notice of the killings and bring the perpetrators of the attacks to the book.
