An heavy explosion rocked northern Faryab province on Wednesday morning, killing at least 6 civilians and injuring at least 26 others. According to local authorities, the incident took place around 11:00 am local time in northern Maimana city after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives. The incident took place in Jada-e-Dehqan around 200 meters away from the provincial governor office. Provincial security chief Abdul Khaliq Aqsai also confirmed the incident and said, a suicide bomber on a motorcycle detonated his explosives near the convoy of NATO troops at Maimana city. Provincial hospital chief Abdul Ali Halim confirming the report said, at least 5 people who were killed and 26 others who were injured following the incident were taken to the hospital. Mr. Halim further added, an Afghan woman and some children are also among those injured during the explosion. Local residents and eye witnesses also said, several people were killed and injured during the incident. According to reports, the incident took place after a suicide bomber on a motorcycle detonated his explosives near an ISAF convoy. A eyewitness said, at least 6 NATO troops were killed along with 10 Afghan civilians, and another NATO soldier was injured along with 15 Afghan civilians during the incident.
