QUETTA - Two more people belonging to Hazara community fell victim to sectarian killing in the provincial capital on Tuesday night.

According to police, unidentified armed assailants opened indiscriminate firing on two different shops at Mecongy Road.

As a result, two people, belonging to Hazara community were killed. The assailants fled from the scene after committing the crime. Police and law-enforcement agencies rushed to the site soon after the incident and moved the injured to nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. One victim was identified as Ali Akbar. ‘The assailants were riding a motorbike and it appears to be a case of sectarian killing’, a senior police official said, adding, that investigation into the killing was underway.

The sources said that Station House Officer Gwalmandi, Shaukat Jadoon had been suspended for showing negligence in duty when the incident occurred.

Nobody has been arrested in the connection. Meanwhile, the spokesman of defunct Lashkar-e-Jhangvi calling from unspecified location to media offices claimed responsibility for killing two people at Mecongy Road.
