KARACHI – Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Zahid Qurban Alvi has allocated portfolios to the provincial ministers and advisors of caretaker setup in Sindh.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, Shakaib Qureshi has been allotted Ministry of Excise and Taxation and P&D.
Nawab Qalbe Hussain Lahori has got Forest and Wildlife. Muhammad Shareef Ansari has been given Environment and Alternate Energy.
Sardar Khan Ghoto’s portfolio is Labour and Transport, Mehmood Yousuf Mandviwala has got Law and Prisons, Iqbal Dawood Pakwala has been given Food portfolio.
Raees Ghulam Qasim Jaskani will be Minister for Livestock and Fishries, Junaid Ali Shah for Health, Sardar Muhammad Yaseen Malik for Auqaf and Religious Affairs. Shabbar Zaidi for Finance, Khalid Tawab for Industries and Commerce and Dr Information Technology to Mian Zahid Hussain, Sports and Youth Affairs to Haroon Farooki and Special Education to Zakria Godil. Meanwhile, the Caretaker Provincial Information Minister Noorul Huda Shah on Wednesday visited the offices of the Sindh Information Department.
On the occasion, she went round various sections of the Information Department.
The minister exhorted the officers and staff of the Department to perform their duties with commitment as well as dedication. She was of the view that the Sindh Information Department would be activated further and streamlined on the modern lines.
Noorul Huda emphasised on the officials of the department to highlight the policies of the Caretaker government in the media and its effort for the holding of the coming general elections in free, fair and transparent manner. She said that for the distribution of advertisements a judicious policy based on merit should be adopted.
Earlier, on arrival the Minister was received by Sindh Secretary Information, Noor Muhammad Leghari. He also briefed her about the functioning and performance of the department.
Sindh Information Department Director General Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani and Information Director Yousuf Kabooro were also present on the occasion.
‘Election Commission to be extended cooperation’: Sindh Inspector General of Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch has directed the officials concerned to extend every possible cooperation to the Election Commission for holding transparent and fair elections in a peaceful environment.
He directed that a comprehensive strategy be adopted to maintain law and order during the general election 2013 in entire Sindh, said a statement issued on Wednesday.
The IG Operation Room at Central Police Office has been declared as Central Election Monitoring Cell to ensure implementation of election security plan across Sindh during the general election 2013.
Telephone and fax numbers as well as e-mail ID have also been allotted to the Central Election Monitoring Cell by the Sindh Police to ensure liaison among the DIG Rangers, offices of District Police Officers (DPO), and police stations, said a statement on Wednesday.
The Cell will also ensure implementation of the directives with regard to the election security plan. A pro forma containing telephone, fax numbers and e-mail IDs has also been issued to Additional IG Karachi and all DIGs. All DPOs will also send their reports through DIGs concerned to the IG Sindh, after every 12 hours.
The main election monitoring cell will also be provided with the information in case any unlikely incident takes place so as to facilitate timely action by the police.
