RAWALPINDI - The Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) foiled a smuggling bid by seizing 10 kg heroin from a passenger and held him who was trying to board on a UK-bounded flight at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP).
“The ANF also recovered 650 gram heroin from a parcel while rounded up many other smugglers, including a foreigner, besides recovering narcotics during successful raids in the other parts of the country,” informed ANF Headquarter spokesman here on Thursday.
According to him, the ANF team deputed at the BBIIAP detected a suspected passenger and taken him to the counter for checking. During course of search, the ANF officials recovered heroin weighing 10kg concealed in cooking pots and folds of bag and arrested the passenger Aftab Nasir having dual nationality, who was going to Birmingham (UK) via PK-791. “A case was registered against the accused,” the spokesman added.
Moreover, the ANF also recovered 650 grams of heroin from a parcel that was booked by the DHL courier Islamabad office and was being sent to Italy. The drug was concealed in four bed sheets and eight pillow covers.
On the other hand, ANF conducted four operations in Peshawar, Kasur, Lahore and Karachi and recovered narcotics (10kg heroin, 2.20kg Opium) worth million of rupees. A cocaine carrier foreigner was also apprehended.
The ANF officials deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore arrested a Malian citizen Pascale Toure son of Toure Micheal of Segou Mali, who confessed of having Cocaine filled capsules in his stomach. The accused had arrived from Cameron via Dubai by PIA flight number PK-204.  Another raid led to arrest of Muhammad Wakeel and Sakina Bibi and recovered 2.20kg of Opium and 500 grams of heroin from their personal possession.  In Peshawar, ANF arrested Sardar Alam on revelation of a detainee and recovered 9.83 kg of heroin and 82 capsules containing 830grams of heroin.
The ANF Karachi airport team held one Sohail Bashir and recovered 90 grams of heroin from his personal possession. The drugs were tactfully concealed in his undergarments. The accused was to travel from Karachi to Dubai by Emirates Airlines EK-605.
Cases against all the accused persons have been registered with ANF Police Stations and further investigation were under process, the spokesman informed.
