KARACHI - Like in the past, tall claims of the Sindh Government on taking strict measures against cheating in exams has once again been exposed as on the second day of 9th–10th examinations students continued copying and cheating freely during exams, The Nation has learnt.

The candidates of SSC Part-II (10th Class) sat for English Paper and paper of General Group in the morning and evening shift respectively on Thursday. According to reports, in various examination centers invigilators have failed to keep the exam centres free from unfairness. A total of 325,000 students are taking part in the SSC Part- I & II Annual Examinations in the metropolis only. On the other hand, according to reports, in other cities of the province cheating remained undisturbed, as per the past practice.

According to details, given by Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), as many as 19 candidates have been caught while using unfair means in the papers held on Thursday. A female student was also caught on account for impersonation.

The board has mentioned names of centres where candidate were caught red-handedly; the names of these centres included APWA Govt. Boys Secondary School-Korangi, Allama Iqbal Govt. Boys Secondary School-FB Area, Shugufta Memorial Secondary School-Orangi Town, YMCA Secondary School-Sadar, Mehran Public Secondary School etc. 

According to BSEK Controller Examination Noman Ahsan, around 295 examination centres have been setup in the city where 325,000 male and female candidates will be accommodated. The total numbers of candidates are divided into different faculties. As many as 137708 candidates got registered themselves into 10th class science group, 136075 in 9th class science, 14674 in 10 class general group, 18239 in 9th class general. While 11176 candidates are enrolled in 10th class private general group and 6393 in 9th class private general group. In some centres, papers did not start on the time due failure  in receiving the test on time.

In the Aziz Government Boys School in Korangi the first paper started in evening at 2pm due to the protest of students of the said school. Students were recording their protest against their school (Aziz Government Boys School) who failed to get admit cards on time.

The protesting students did not allow the authorities concerned to conduct papers at this school. The situation forced BSEK administration to rush to affected school to solve the issue; the administration later on conducted papers at other centre of Millat Government School in the same area.
