PESHAWAR - Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani awarded on Thursday cash prizes and commendation certificates to Mardan police jawans, who recovered 71 tola looted jewellery from dacoits after an encounter in which three dacoits had been killed.
It may be recalled that a few days ago some dacoits stole five kilogrammes jewellery from jeweller shops at Gaju Khan Bazaar, Mardan .
The other day police got the information that the dacoits were shifting the looted jewellery to other city in a car (667-ISL).
On this Sheikh Maltoon police established naka bandi on the ring road. Meanwhile, the car appeared and the police party signalled to stop it but accused inside the car opened firing on the police. On police retaliation, all the three men sitting inside the car were killed and 71 tola looted gold was recovered from them. The police also recovered three pistols and cartridges from the car.
The police chief addressing the ceremony highly commended the prompt and bold response of the police party and said that they put their precious lives in extreme danger by hotly pursuing the fleeing dacoits and recovered looted jewellery from them.
The police chief also appreciated the trust of the trader community in the police who after recovery of the looted jewellery from the dacoits had garlanded the police party and hoped that both will cooperate with each other in flashing out crime from the society. On this occasion, SHO Sheikh Maltoon Bashir Dad Khan, Sub Inspector Sartaj Khan, constables Asif, Abdul Wahid and Arif were awarded cash prize and IGP's commendation certificates.
