LAHORE: A writ petition was filed in the Lahore High Court today seeking directions for the government to submit record of foreign debt with interest for Orange Train project and details of subsidy to be provided to the passengers of this train.
Munir Ahmad, a local resident, filed the plea through his counsel Advocate Azhar Siddique in his already pending petition. He submitted that it had increased the burden on public exchequer. The petitioner stated that due to this unnecessary project foreign debts will be raised to Rs 21 trillion which on June 30, 2013 was Rs 14 trillion. He said PML-N borrowed Rs 4,200 billion and foreign debts increase was 29 percent during last three years.
