Mass marriage at Minhaj

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s sister organisation Minhajul Quran Welfare Trust organised a mass marriage ceremony of 24 couples yesterday.

Rights activist Ansar Burney, known jurist SM Zafar, PAT leader Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and others participated in the ceremony held at party head-office Model Town. Trust director Syed Amjad Ali Shah, on the occasion, gave briefing on the weddings functions and the objectives of the institution. He said that the trust organises such event every year.
The deserving couples were provided with household items worth over Rs150,000 each, he added. Mr Shah told the gathering that the couples included members from different religious minorities as well. Speaking on occasion, Ansar Bureny condemned the Gulshan Iqbal tragedy and asked the government to improve security measures.
