PESHAWAR - Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that implementation on National Action Plan (NAP) is the only solution to end the menace of terrorism.

He was addressing a press conference at Watan Kor on Sunday; Sherpao also condemned the Lahore park attack.

On the occasion, Provincial Youth Assembly Chief Minister Danial Ahmed Aziz along with other members joined the party.

About Iran President’s visit to Islamabad, Aftab Sherpao said that government should have taken maximum benefits from this historical tour.

“In fact some unfavourable events have spoiled this opportunity and created an environment of misunderstanding between the two neighbouring countries,” Sherpao said

Highlighting importance of initiation of fresh population census, Aftab Sherpao said the population of the country especially the Pakhtuns has increased many folds during the last 18 years.

“Without new statistical data, neither the federal government nor provincial governments can initiate mega as well as long-term developmental projects to bring the country on the track of development and prosperity,” QWP chief said.

Aftab Sherpao maintained that youth was comprised of more than 60 per cent of the total population. “Conducting of fresh census is the need of the hour because it is the time to help resolve educational, health and unemployment issues,” he added.

He further said reforms process in FATA was a good omen to bring the militancy-hit area into mainstream. “To bring a real change in FATA it is mandatory for the government to have fresh a statistical data about its population in order to help resolve longstanding issues and problems that the tribesmen are facing for the last three and half decades,” Aftab Sherpao said.

QWP chief said that some people were least concerned about reforms process in FATA. “We hope that new governor will take keen interest in merging of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” he said.

Aftab Sherpao added that his party’s provincial setup would convene All Parties Conference (APC) in the second week of this month in order to highlight the need of conducting fresh population census across the country and to help pressurize federal government to stop delaying tactics.
