Rawalpindi - The Rawalpindi police yesterday claimed to have busted two dacoit gangs arresting their eight members involved in bank robberies and other criminal activities.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Karamat Ullah Malik told a press conference here that the notorious gangs of Sajida and Shahda were involved in robberies committed in Westridge and Airport areas. Weapons, ammunition and cash were recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer RPO Waisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has announced a cash award Rs 100,000 and commendation certificates for the policemen who had arrested the dacoits.
Meanwhile, RA Bazaar police have arrested nine alleged gamblers and recovered stake money from them. On tip-off, the police conducted a raid at gambling den in RA Bazaar and arrested nine gamblers.
The police claimed to have recovered over Rs0.1 million stake money and three wireless sets and four cell phones from their possession. The alleged gamblers have been shifted to police station. The identity of the gamblers could not be ascertained immediately. The police have registered cases and started investigations.
