Pakistan's top civilian and military brass met on Wednesday to discuss recent reign of Indian terror in Kashmir, which martyred at least 20 innocent people and wounded hundreds.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the National Security Committee (NSC) which was also attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, defence minister, interior minister, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, chiefs of the three armed forces and other senior officials today.

According to a press release issued here, NSC condemned the atrocities of Indian forces Held Kashmir, and observed that the use of pellet guns against protestors has blinded many of Kashmiris and has inflicted serious injuries.

"The National Security Committee praised the extraordinary courage and resilience of Kashmiri people in the face of Indian brutalities, gross and systematic violations of all their human rights. The Committee observed that the purely indigenous character of this uprising has once again belied the false propaganda by the Indian government," the press release reads.

The committee also pledged Pakistan’s commitment to political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian Held Jammu Kashmir in their just and legitimate struggle for their right to self-determination.

The NSC has decided to raise the issue of unprecedented Indian brutalities at both bilateral and multilateral platforms, said the press release.

At least 19 Kashmiri youth were martyred by Indian occupation forces in Islamabad and Shopian districts of the occupied valley. 

Three soldiers, 13 suspected militants and four civilians died in a series of clashes south of the main city of Srinagar, in the single worst day of violence in Kashmir since 2016.

Thousands took to the streets over the weekend in support of the rebels, who have been fighting for decades for independence or for a merger with Pakistan.

Police opened fire with live rounds and pellet guns on mourners attending the funerals of slain militants and on crowds who threw stones and chanted slogans against Indian rule.

Earlier today, PM Abbasi had said that Indian forces have recently martyred 19 and injured over 200 Kashmiris in an attempt to suppress their voices but declared it as 'a failed agenda.'

Addressing the joint meeting of Azad Jammu Kashmir Council and legislative assembly in Muzaffarabad, the premier said Indian forces not only targetted unarmed civilians but also attacked those participating in funeral prayers.

Pakistan on Monday had also condemned the violence, with Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif blaming India for trying to repeat Gujarat Muslim massacre in occupied Kashmir.
