LAHORE - Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore/ Additional IGP Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that 770 police officers and officials of the Lahore police have tested COVID-19 positive so far, and out of them, 651 have resumed their duties after complete recovery.
As per details, two DIGs, three senior police officers of SSP rank, seven SPs, 19 DSPs, 25 Inspectors, 83 Sub-Inspectors,120 traffic wardens and junior and senior clerks were infected by coronavirus.
As many as 114 police officers and officials of Lahore Police, affected by COVID-19, are still quarantined at their homes, he added. He said that in the wake of increasing threat of corona pandemic in the city, the Lahore Police had been on high alert and extending maximum cooperation to the district administration to ensure implementation of the government issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
CCPO says Front Desk staff role crucial in changing ‘thana culture’
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore and Additional IGP Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that the Front Desk staff at police stations could play most effective role in changing the ‘thana culture’. After giving away appointment letters to new police officers at the CCPO office here on Saturday, he said the Front Desk officers could build a positive image of the Police Department through their polite behaviour with those visiting the police stations and redressing their grievances swiftly. The Lahore police have recruited 34 educated and computer literate new Senior Assistants (SAs) and Police Station Assistants (PSAs) including females to meet the human resource demands of Front Desks and further strengthen the essential section of police stations. The new appointees include 18 Senior Assistants and 16 Police Station Assistants, and eight of those are female PSAs.
CCPO gives away cheques to artyrs’ families
Ghulam Mahmood Dogar gave away 16 cheques worth Rs 1,319,000 as group insurance grant to the families of martyrs and the deceased policemen, here on Saturday.
He said that welfare of police officers and officials, their family members particularly the heirs of police martyrs, was top priority of the Police Department. SSP Admin Lahore Waqar Shoaib Qureshi and other senior officers were also present.
