LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif Tuesday ordered Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen to recover and produce a minor boy on Aug 5, otherwise Punjab Inspector General of Police will be summoned in the court. The CJ was hearing a habeas corpus petition for recovery of son of Asma Zohra, sister in-law of actress Meera, allegedly abducted by the actresss brother Ahsan Abbas. The chief justice took strong notice of police failure in recovery of the minor despite the fact that SP CIA Umar Virk vowed to produce the baby in court in a day. On short-notice the CJ summoned CCPO in his court and directed him to take every measure against all respondents involved in babys abduction and produce the minor in the court. The CJ observed that father of the minor, who even was not on bail, was playing hide and seek with court by not producing the boy and police also failed in minors recovery from illegal custody of the respondent-father. Asma Zohra had filed a petition for the recovery of her four-month-old minor son Murtaza, stating that her husband Ahsan Abbas, brother of actress Meera, had kicked her out of his house along with the child four months back. However, on June 4, 2010, Ahsan Abbas accompanied by armed persons attacked her parents house and took the child with him. She said a habeas corpus petition was filed before the sessions court and a bailiff was deputed to recover and produce the baby but to no avail. Petitioner requested the court to order police to recover her son from illegal custody of his father and produce him before court for granting the babys custody to her.
