Chief Minister for Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that he would not leave the flood victims in lurch and resolved that every measure would be ensured to relive the affectees. Talking to media during his visit of flood-hit areas in Kot Addu, he vowed that Punjab government is utilizing every available source to relieve the flood victims. He also urged Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to give Rs 10 billion grant to Punjab to rehabilitate the flood victims in the province adding that if the federal government didn't ensure availability of grant, Punjab government will abolish its 'Sasti-roti Scheme' but will not leave its public in the lurch of floodwaters. Chief Minister Punjab further stated that Punjab government has been doing its best by constituting relief camps in flood-hit areas and the affected people were being provided with food and medicines in the camps. He also reiterated that Punjab government wouldn't sit to rest until it rehabilitates the masses back to their respective areas.
