LAHORE The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Punjab during its ongoing rescue operation took as many as 53 helpless minors into its custody from different areas of the metropolis and produced them before the court that sent them to the Child Protection Institute (CPI). A spokesman for the CPWB said 42 children were rescued during the last week and 11 children in the current week while carrying out Ramazan Grand Operation. The operation continued at Batti Chowk, Data Darbar, Minar-e-Pakistan, Shahdara, Yateem Khana and Johar Town etc. On the special instructions issued by Director General Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Iram Bokhari, a special Ramadan plan has been managed to counter the massive beggar mafia active in posh areas of the city including Gulberg, Model Town and Defense Housing Society. According to the spokesperson, all the minors rescued have been sent to the CPI where the basic needs of food, schooling and boarding would be furnished without any cost.
