Holy month no bar for dacoits

LAHORE Dacoits continued their looting spree here in the Punjab capital during the holy month of Ramazan and struck 33 times in different parts of the City and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees during the last 36 hours, police sources claimed here on Wednesday evening. Armed bandits barged into the house of actress Naghmana in Iqbal Town police vicinity and held up the family members at gunpoint. The robbers collected 70 tolas gold ornaments, 80 tolas silver, cash and other valuables worth Rs 7 million and fled away with facing any resistance. Unidentified dacoits equipped with sophisticated weapons stormed into a house in Gulshan-e-Ravi police area and held up the family members at gunpoint. The bandits collected cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 1.2 million and fled away. Armed bandits stormed into the house of Muhammad Faisal in Shahdra police and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 400,000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint. Robbers riding on motorcycle and equipped with pistols forced their entry into the shop of Rahmat in Ghaziabad police vicinity and snatched Rs 150,000 at gunpoint. A motorcyclist, Muhammad Asif was on his way home when two robbers intercepted him near Shadbagh police area. He was deprived of Rs 220,000 at gunpoint. Robbers stormed into the house of Muhammad Ashraf in Defense-B police area, held up the family members at gunpoint and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 200,000. Muhammad Liaqat was deprived of his motorcycle and purse containing Rs 10,000 at gunpoint in Sabzazar police area while a car rider Ali was deprived of Rs 60,000 and a mobile phone from Kahna police area. Robbers forced their entry into the house of Muhammad Yaqoob in South Cantonment police area and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 50,000 at gunpoint. Robbers looted Rs 200,000 from Muhammad Amjad in Islampura police area at gunpoint while Muhammad Afzaal was deprived of Rs 100,000 from Baghbanpura police area. Robbers also looted passers-by in Satu Katla, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Township, Nawab Town, and Iqbal Town police areas and fled away after snatching cash and valuables worth Rs 200,000 from them at gunpoint. Robbers held up passers-by and motorists in three different parts of Factory Area police limits and escaped after snatching cash, gold ornaments, and cellular phones besides a motorcycle at gunpoint. Unidentified motorcyclists intercepted two passers-by in Defense-A and Defense-B police area and took away cash and valuables worth thousands of rupees at gunpoint. Thieves took away three cattle heads from Bata Pur and Manawan police vicinities while robbers snatched a motorcycle from Badami Bagh police area at gunpoint. Robbers also looted another two men in Shadman and Ichra police areas and escaped after collecting cash and cell phones at gunpoint. Meanwhile, five cars were either snatched or stolen away from Gulberg, Sarwar Road, Kahna, North Cantonment and Defense-A police areas while four motorcycles were stolen away from Green Town, Sabzazar, Lower Mall, and Harbanspura police areas respectively.
