Spokesman to the President, Farhatullah Babar on Thursday said that creation of new provinces is not the prerogative of the President, adding that President cannot announce formation of a new province. Talking to a private TV channel, Farhatullah Babar said after passage of 18th Amendment, President cannot announce formation of any new province without passage of a resolution by the Provincial Assembly. He said that according to the rule, first of all the Provincial Assembly will pass a joint resolution in which formation of a new province will be demanded from the Federation. He said that the federal government will then call a meeting of the Parliament to make constitutional amendment and then the president will sign and announce the formation of new province. The spokesman denied the news report that the President will announce formation of Saraki Province on August 14.
