KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has demanded for governor rule in Sindh province owing the ongoing spree of violence in Karachi. PTI Secretary General Arif Alvi demanded this on Wednesday while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club. Speaking on the occasion he said that the present rulers had failed in discharging their primary duty of safeguarding the lives and possessions of the citizens. He demanded for governor rule, being headed by an independent governor, instead of the present one. He strictly condemned the ongoing massacre in the city, particularly the brutal murder of two PTI activists: Israr Khan and Rahimullah, who were abducted and later their bodies were found from gunny bags at SITE area on August 1. The PTI leader said that they were going to lodge a case in regard with the murder of PTI workers, in which the Sindh Governor, chief minister, Sindh home minister, relevant superintendent of police and the house officer would be cited as respondents. He said that escalating violence in Karachi had claimed about 300 innocent lives only within last 30 days. He said that PTI condemned all these murders including two of its activists and demanded the arrest and conviction of the killers. Alvi strongly criticised the political troika of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Awami National Party. He alleged that these parties were artificially in a coalition at the top but in indeed these parties were in a state of war, resulting in the murders of several innocent people on daily basis. Human Rights Commission of Pakistans report states that while criminal elements may be exploiting the situation they are definitely not the architects of the situation, he said. This is exactly what we have been saying, he added. The parties involved are clearly MQM, ANP and PPP, he alleged. The PTI leader further said that people of the city were not fighting but the political parties and their armed wings were creating terror. The political troika is responsible for creation of an atmosphere where innocent ethnicities have no choice but to align with these violent parties so as to get protection. The solution of the situation is only lies in refraining the politicisation of police, deweaponisation in the city, solid action against culprits without favour or fear and the surfacing their political affiliation, he added. As the confused coalition has failed to take such measures and overcome the situation so in accordance with the constitution, PTI demands Governor Raj with a strong and independent governor.
