LAHORE The City received showers on Wednesday evening, providing some respite to the Lahorites from the muggy weather persisting for the last couple of days. Lahore received 17 mm rain. After a hot and humid day, windy conditions and cloud bursts in the evening caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, reducing intensity of the sultry weather. Lahore received 07 mm rain. On Wednesday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 39 degree Celsius and 29.5 C respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 61 per cent which increased to 71 per cent in the evening. People come out of their houses in the evening to enjoy somewhat pleasant condition. Major parks and picnic spots attracted a large number of people including women and children. Huge rush was witnessed at Racecourse Park, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jallo Park, Lahore Zoo and other picnic spots in the City. Traffic mess was also witnessed on the arteries in the close vicinity of these picnic spots in the evening. According to the experts, a trough of westerly wave is moving north of Afghanistan. Seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan. Weak moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating Punjab up to 3000 feet. Local meteorological department has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of rain for the City during the next 24 hours. Met office has forecast rains at isolated places of northeast Punjab and Kashmir.
