KARACHI Five more dead bodies were found from different areas of the metropolis on Wednesday while an MQM activist was killed in a gun battle with ANP activists. The victims were apparently tortured before being shot dead and their bodies were thrown in different areas of the city. On the other hand, door-to-door search operation by law enforcers continued in Orangi Town and the surrounding areas where the police and the Rangers arrested some 50 suspects. But, Lyari and its surrounding areas from where some five bodies were found remain off the list of search operation. Mutilated body of Abid Baig, 22, an activist affiliated with Unit -32 of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was found from Ghazi Nagar, Usmanabad in the remits of Garden Police. Police sources said that deceased was on his way to work when gunmen took him out from a public bus at Chakiwar. Two bodies beating marks of torture and bullet shots were found from Salar Compound, Bhempura, in Napier Police limits. Police said deceased Zamir Hussain and Sher Baloch were residents of Lyari area. Both victims hands and legs were tied with ropes. Police said both the victims were kidnapped on wee hours of Tuesday by some unidentified men. In Jamshed Quarters, body of a young man was found in a garbage drum on New MA Jinnah Road. Victim Naveed, 24, was a resident of Sindhi Hotel Liaquatabad, and ran an auto workshop in the same area. Another body of an unidentified man was found form Lyari riverbed, near Pak Colony. Police suspected that deceased was kidnapped on Tuesday night from the surrounding areas. An MQM activist was killed and another two men were wounded while a cabin was set on fire during a clash between two groups in Al-Falah Police jurisdiction. The deceased was identified as Amir Sardar and injured as Owais and Ismail. Police said that clash started for a fight on petty issue between two men from the opposite camps and it escalated into a gun battle between MQM and ANP (Awami National Party). Authorities claimed to have intensified the deployment of Rangers in troubled areas and also increased the snap checking. As many as 2,000 Rangers personnel along with heavy contingent of women police conducted search operation in parts of Orangi Town, including Qasba Colony, Qazzafi Chowk, and Bukhari Colony, Kati Pahari, Aligarh Colony and Gulfamabad. Several temporary pickets have also been established in Orangi, Banaras, Manghopir, Sarjani, New Karachi, Shah Faisal, Landhi, Quaidabad, Old Subzi Mandi, Hassan Square, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas.
