QUETTA (APP) - US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Wednesday announced Rs 8.6 million for the construction of two houses in the SoS village in Quetta. SoS Chairperson Roshan Khurshid Barocha and Executive member SoS village Brigadier (r) Abdul Razaq accorded warm welcome to the US ambassador upon his arrival to the village. Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of Ambassador and US Consul General William Martin were also present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony US Ambassador lauded the efforts of the SoS administration and assured them of his full cooperation for the welfare of the orphans sheltered in the village. Munter reiterated that he was very optimistic about Pakistan-US ties because of the strong bond between the people of both the countries despite disagreements on various issue. He said the US and Pakistan have a long history of cooperation in various fields. He maintained that US government is well cognizant of the suffering of the people of the Balochistan and extending cooperation in fields such as education and health to benefit the masses of the province. Munter said, we are good friend of Pakistan and would continue to help whenever and wherever needed. He voiced hope that the SoS village would become a tangible symbol for those organisations who are working for the cause of humanity across the globe. Chairperson SoS village Barocha on the occasion gave detailed briefing to the visiting US dignitaries about the functioning of the village. Earlier, Cameron Munter visited the various sections of the SoS village and played cricket with the orphans.
