SUKKUR - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed concern over the reduction of votes in the province according to the new voter lists.
Speaking to reporters at the Sukkur airport, Shah said he was astonished that the number of votes had decreased despite the inclusion of thousands of new voters. He said that he would request the federal government and Election Commission to investigate the matter.
When asked about the general elections, Shah replied that they would be held on time and the PPP was making preparations for them.
Commenting on Pakistan People’s Party government’s achievements during last four years, the CM said the party-led coalition government has provided job opportunities to youths of the province. “The masses have faith in the PPP leadership which has honoured the 2008 mandate and took every step in the best interest of the people and country,” he said adding the PPP enjoyed vast majority across the country and would once again emerge as the leady political strength.
To a query, Qaim said anti-democratic elements are busy hatching conspiracies against the government, but, he added, such forces would remain unsuccessful in their nefarious designs. “The PPP has public backing, so all such efforts to derail the ongoing democratic system will end in failure,” he said.
