Two senior Indian officials arrested for sexual assault during Common Wealth Games

Glasgow-  Indian Olympics Association general secretary Rajiv Mehta and wrestling referee Virender Malik were reportedly arrested on charges of alleged assault in Glasgow, Indian media reported today.

According to Indian report, wrestling referee Virender Malik has been arrested for alleged sexual assault while Rajiv Mehta has been arrested for alleged drunken driving.

While one of them was reportedly arrested in the Glasgow city centre, the other official was held in the west of the city which is the host of the 20th Commonwealth Games.

Reports added that the two officials will remain in police custody over the weekend, and will be produced before a Glasgow magistrate on Monday.

The duo, however, is not part of the official 215-strong contingent which is staying in the Games village. Both of them were reportedly lodged at a local hotel.

India is currently fifth in the medals tally of the Commonwealth Games.
