GILGIT - Once again flash flood unleashed fury in different parts of Diamer district on Monday, causing severe damages to roads, standing crops, water channels, trees and houses.
“Flood has hit Gais Bala, Goherabad and Khenir valleys of Diamer where Pakistan Army and Gilgit-Baltistan government officials have been engaged in relief and rescue operation,” Deputy Commissioner Diamer Usman Ahmad told The Nation. He said that hundreds of people were displaced as flood continued to wreak havoc at various parts of the district.
Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and Administrative Officers visited the effective areas in Diamer and inspected flood damages and also distributed food items and tents among the flood-affected people. “The armed forces of Pakistan have always helped the countrymen in difficult situation,” CM Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said during his visit to the flood-hit Diamer.
At this difficult time, he said, Pakistan army and civil administration were jointly making efforts to provide relief to flood victims. “Military and civil leadership stand by the people G-B in this time of test,” he added. Meanwhile last day flood also caused damages to roads, standing crops, water channels, trees and houses in district Skardu Roundu.
