Islamabad - The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a prayer leader for delivering hate speech and instigating the people against a specific sect during Friday sermon here at Mohra Chapper, Chakri Road, sources informed on Monday.
Later, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall issued 90 days detention order for the prayer leader who was identified as Qari
Imran Hazarvi, the prayer leader at Jamia Masjid Siddique-e-Akbar Mohra Chappar, sources added. The accused prayer leader was sent to Adiala Jail.
According to sources, the CTD received information that Hazarvi had delivered hate speech during Friday sermon, besides instigating the people against a special sect. A team of CTD reached the mosque and held the prayer leader, they mentioned.
Later, CTD requested the district government for issuance of detention orders of the prayer leader. Taking action, DCO Dall issued 90 days detention orders for Qari Imran Hazarvi and the accused was sent to Adaila Jail, sources asserted.
DCO Dall, when contacted, confirmed the development. He said that it was certain that the detainee had links with banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and his arrest would help in maintaining law and order after the death of LeJ Chief Malik Ishaq during an encounter in Muzaffargarh.
