Wijnaldum is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and promising young talents on display this season in the Premier League. He was brought in by Steve McClaren from PSV Eindhoven. The Dutchman is expected to provide much needed stability in the middle of the park as well as help the strikers up front threading exquisite through balls and crosses down the touchline. With PSV, the 24 year old scored 13 goals and created 4 last season. If the Dutchman continues his form and adapts to life in the Premier League quickly, he will be more than just a success.

• Remy Cabella

Cabella is a catalyst in the middle of the park, helping the strikers up front with quality passes, dazzles the opposition's defenders and scores important goals. At least this was expected of the Frenchman when he arrived last season. But Cabella failed to deliver. However, all of this could change under Steve McClaren. If the Frenchman delivers even 2/3rds of what is expected of him, he will surely help Newcastle improve their points tally.

Summary:

Newcastle United face a tricky test ahead this season. Either Newcastle will blow football fans away with their fluent counter attacking football or would frustrate with a rather clumsy defense. A new coach could be a blessing in disguise for the Toons and with McClaren already bringing in Mitrovic, Wijnaldum and Mbemba, he looks set to hit he ground running. As of this moment finishing in the top half would be an achievement for the men in black and white.
