Garrison Commander Bahawalpur Maj-Gen Sadiq Ali expressed satisfaction over the measures taken by the state for the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people of Bangla Dil Kusha, District Rahim Yar Khan.
During his visit to the flood-affected area, he interacted with the victims and the administration officials. So far, the Army has evacuated 49,800 residents of affected areas to the safer places through boats. Troops of Bahawalpur Corps are playing a vital role in evacuating people from potential flood affected areas. Aerial reconnaissance of affected areas is also being carried out so that a vigilant eye can be kept on flood situation.
He said free medical camp has been established in Chachran Sharif where 300 patients have been treated including 120 men, 105 women and 125 children. A veterinary camp has also been established under the supervision of Pak Army and 92,557 cattle head have been evacuated, he said. Troops of Bahawalpur Corps also distributed 300 ration packets to the flood affected people, he noted.
Shopkeepers fined: The TMA imposed fines on certain bakeries and restaurants of Bahawalpur for selling unhygienic food and defying the Punjab Food Authority Act 2011. AC Rao Tasleem Akhtar collectively imposed fines of Rs150,000 on the sellers. Grand Regency Hotel was fined Rs50,000, Four Seasons Restaurant was Rs15,000, Rasheed Bakers RS50,000, Mushtaq Soda Water Rs15,000, Qureshi Khata Khat Restaurant Rs10,000 while Al Baek Restaurant was fined Rs10,000. For using inferior quality food colour and artificial flavors, Mushtaq Soda Water’s Model Town branch and Data Bakers were issued the warning due to untidiness in their shops.
Data Bakers did not have the health certificate and its workers were working without gloves while flies were found lurking on sweets and floor of the shop was not cleaned.
