Expired medicines are being sold openly at medical stores in many areas of Pakistan. Most of the medical stores do not have government licenses but are still operational. The Drug Regulatory Authority officials are involved in the sale of unregistered and substandard medicines. As a result of utilising fake and expired medicines, citizens are falling ill. Earlier in 2012, almost 100 people died and 40,000 people suffered from fatal diseases using expired medicines. The government should regulate its system of keeping a check on drug and medical stores.
