Iranian envoy visits Khan, congratulates on poll victory

Prime Minister-designate and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman,  Imran Khan on Saturday said that strong and active diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran are very important and would further be broadened in future.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Mehdi Honardoost who called on him at his residence in Islamabad to congratulate him over victory in the parliamentary elections.

Imran Khan warmly received the Iranian ambassador and thanked him as well as the Iranian leadership for extending congratulations.

Imran Khan said that Pakistan wants to have good relations with all of its neighbors, including Iran, in all fields, especially in the economic sector.

Expressing his views, Imran Khan praised the resilient approach of the Iranian nation. He said that bringing economic stability would be the first priority of his government.

The PTI chief expressed his desire to visit Iran to see historical and religious sites in the country.

Honardoost on the occasion said that Iran desires strong multi-dimensional ties with Pakistan and hoped that ties between the two neighboring states will further strengthen.

The envoy said that his country is fully ready for promoting and enhancing relations with the new government in Pakistan. During the meeting he conveyed warm greetings of Iranian leadership to Imran Khan.

He prayed for good health and future success of Imran Khan and Tehreek-e-Insaf as well as welfare and progress of the people of Pakistan.

He said that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project can change the fate of Pakistan adding that his country is ready to hold constructive dialogue on the project any time with Pakistan. He went on to say that Iran also wants to enhance its trade ties with Pakistan.

He added that Iran welcomes suggestions of Pakistan for bringing peace and stability to the region.

Earlier Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Mehdi Honardoost had sent a letter to the incoming Prime Minister Imran Khan on coming out victorious after the general elections held on July 25th 2018.

“It is great pleasure for me to extend warm and cordial felicitations on victory of Your Excellency and Tehreek-e-Insaf in the parliamentary elections of Pakistan,” stated the letter.
