BAHAWALNAGAR - The provincial minister for prisons has directed the Bahawalnagar district administration to ensure maximum security during Muharram. Addressing a committee meeting, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer said that though Bahawalnagar was not sensitive town regarding security, yet the district administration should make all the necessary security measures. He also directed to improve sanitation system especially cleanliness of the routes of Muharram processions, besides removing encroachments and lighting in streets. During the meeting, the minister was briefed on security measures adopted by the district administration. However, the minister urged the official concerned to further improve the arrangements. The meeting was also attended by district and police officers the district besides, Ulema. The scholar assured the meeting of their full cooperation to maintain law and order during Muharram. CONTROL ROOMS SET UP: Special control rooms have been set up at district and tehsil headquarters for Muharram security, the district coordination officer said. DCO Asim Iqbal added that DCO Office and Tehsil Headquarters control rooms would remain open round-the-clock.
