Pakistan played sensible cricket

Pakistan played sensibly in the second one-day international against Bangladesh to get 2-0 unbeatable lead in the three-match series against Bangladesh. Thanks to Pakistani attack who bowled superbly and restricted Bangladesh to 186 in the allotted 50 overs. For the second time in two matches, Bangladesh's top-order batsmen collapsed quickly, this time playing rash shots on an easier pitch, and Pakistan secured the three-match series 2-0 without being stretched. Spinners got sharp turn and sometime fast bowlers get uneven bounce from the wicket that troubled either side batsmen during the match. Pakistan bowlers made Bangal Tigers struggle throughout the match and did not allow them to score at their will. Bangladesh top order failed to impress with their batting performance. Nasir Hossain (100) and Shakib Al Hassan (34), somehow, defied Pakistani attack, put on 106 runs for the fifth wicket and take their team total to respectability. Nasir Hussain scored first century of the one-day series but his effort went in vain as Tigers were go down fighting by 76 runs. He was later declared man of the match for his brilliantine batting. Bangladesh teams approach to their innings was in contrast to that of Pakistan, who batted with deliberate caution and dedication to overcome early wickets loss and build a platform for a strong total. The difference in how the teams fared in the first 10 overs of their innings decided the match. Bangladesh's batsmen did not even begin to challenge Pakistan, crumbling against Hafeez and Umar Gul. The collapse began in the fourth over and went on until the 10th, at the end of which Bangladesh were 19 for 4. Tamim Iqbal slashed at an outside off stumps delivery that went straight to Younus Khan in slips. Imrul Kayes chipped a drive softly to cover; Shahriar Nafees might have inside-edged onto his pad but he had just survived a closer lbw shout; and Mushfiqur pushed away from his body and was caught at gully. Bowlers helped Pakistan to get unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series. Gul was pick of the bowler with four wickets while Hafeez bagged two and Saeed Ajmal one wicket each. Pakistan, on the other hand, used an old-school approach and content to build slowly. Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi, fired from the platform, built for them to reach a sizeable total. Hafeez and Younus laid the foundations with a partnership of 57 runs for the second wicket and then began Pakistan's strongest partnership, between Misbahul Haq and Umar Akmal. The 50 partnership for the fourth wicket came off 54 balls and Akmal brought up his half-century off 49. Shakib had been Bangladesh's best bowler and his only wicket broke the threatening partnership: Akmal skied the ball inside out to long-off to be caught for 59. Misbah fell prey to the debutant Elias Sunny's maiden ODI wicket. At 197-5 in the 42nd over, Bangladesh had restored parity. Afridi hit his second ball for six, over long-off, and was then dropped on eight by the Shafiul. He went on to hurt Bangladesh, hitting the ball powerfully and charging between the wickets to score 42 runs off 27 balls. That Bangladesh had to chase more than 250 was their own fault, for they conceded 22 runs in extras, 17 of them through wides. Bangladesh were not without a hero, though, for Nasir Hossain entertained the strong crowd by scoring his maiden ODI century. Unfortunately for Hossain, he began his innings after the game was lost, and he did not have partners who might assist him in similar purpose. Even Shakib, who is usually hard to subdue if he bats long, managed only 34 off 90 balls. Pakistan will have to do hard work for future games as Bangladesh will likely to make spinners supporting wickets to win any of the Test match to register save-facing series win. The coach, management and captain sit jointly to make plan for winning the Test series against Bangladesh to boost the morale of the team and maintain the winning streak in future also.
