LAHORE PML-N has a 'soft corner for Mushahid Hussain Sayed to get him in the party. Mushahid Hussain, who originally belongs to Muslim League since early 90s is reportedly extended his hand to the PML(N). Currently Secretary General of PML(Q) Mushahid Hussain and the PML(N) as the reports suggests, are in touch over the matter of joining. When contact was made with PML(N) Senator Pervez Rashid to know the facts, he said he was not aware of any development with regard to Mushahid Hussain joining the PML(N) or any offer made to him however he added, the party had a soft corner for Mushahid for the reason, he did not take part in breaking the PML and carving out Q-League but underwent detention and went abroad later, after Musharrafs coup on Nawaz Sharif government in October 1999. Pervez Rashid said that the PML(N) has opened the door to those politicians who did not take part in breaking Muslim League and remained on the back benches during Musharrafs regime. He said about Mushahid that he was a man of clean character above any intrigue against Muslim League and without any taint of corruption on his character as a politician. He (Mushahid) is an intellectual whose inclusion in any party would be worthwhile as he can play a positive role in any party, he added. To a question on the inclusion of former Minister for Information and Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad under Pervez Musharraf in the PML(N), he said, Sheikh Rashid is not a match for Mushahid Hussain. The sources close to Mushahid Hussain have denied any contact with the PML(N) to join the party. Meanwhile, Manifesto Committee of the PML(N) on Saturday met and gave final touches to the party manifesto for the next election. The meeting was presided over by Chairman of the Committee, Sartaj Aziz and participated by Senator Ishaq Dar, Sardar Mahtab Khan Abbasi, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Senator Pervez Rashid. The Committee deliberated on various aspects of the party manifesto to make it pro-people and in line with the present day needs to enable the country meet the challenges it was facing on economic, diplomatic, social and other fronts at the national and international level. The question of national security and ways and means to steer the country out of current predicament have also been incorporated in the proposed manifesto. The committee almost completed preparation of the manifesto and after adding suggestions therein, it will be presented to the party high command for final approval.
