‘PPP has no objection to fresh delimitation of constituencies’

KARACHI - Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Monday the PPP had no objection to a fresh delimitation of constituencies, but it would be difficult to complete such a task before the next elections.
During his visit to APP Karachi Bureau, Khuhro said that delimitation was to be based on voters' lists and population census but that had not been conducted since 1998.
He advocated the construction of small dams instead of Kalabagh dam.
He said that the Council of Common Interests (CCI) had in the past recommended construction of small dams with a view to overcome energy crisis facing the country.
The speaker further said that it had been universally established that big dams were not feasible because of high costs and lesser life.
Supporting the Bhasha Dam project, Khuhro said, "It is very much feasible from all aspects". He said the Pakistan People Party, keeping in view the aspirations of people, had strongly opposed the construction of Kalabagh Dam as it would harm national integrity.  Replying to a question about the address of President Asif Ali Zardari to the Sindh Assembly, he said that no date had yet been finalised in this respect. He said that "it will be honour for us if a duly elected president address the Sindh Assembly session."
