WAZIRABAD - 56th death anniversary of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was observed under the auspices of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust at Karmabad here in Wazirabad the other day.

President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Khushnud were the guests of honour on the occasion. Other guests included MZAK Ttrust Chairman Khalid Mehmood, Mujeebur Rehman Shami, MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema, former MPA Ijaz Ahmad Samma, PML-N District President Mustansar Ali Gondal, Prof Allama Muhammad Asif Hazarvi, Punjab government Media Advisor Rauf Tahir, Dr Shafiq Julandhari, Tameel Athar, Muhammad Tahir, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad suhail akhtar and Hafiz Mushtaq Ahmad.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob stated that government should fulfil its responsibility to convey the message of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan to young generation and prepare them mentally to meet the challenges.

He said that Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was advocate of freedom of Kashmir from India and Kashmiris were still struggling for freedom. He said that Pakistan was facing difficulties due to its nuclear deterrence which was not acceptable to its enemies.  "No one should talk or hear a word against Pakistan in any circumstances," he said He said that Pakistani were most fearless people in the world and know how to protect their country and ideology and Kashmiris were standing with them at all fronts. Speaking about the educational progress, he said that literacy rate in Kashmir was up to 65 per cent while in Punjab, a highly developed and populated province; it was fluctuating around 40 per cent.

He announced a donation of Rs200,000 for MZAK Trust for the  construction of MZAK Museum.  Senator Pervaiz Rasheed stated that Maulana gained power through knowledge and logic that he spread through his pen and fixed his targets and achieved them through dialogue, and negotiation and not through violence. Maulana believed in the formation of International community which is the basic theme of Islam, he added.  He said that Maulana's early demise orphaned the democracy in Pakistan, adding that his democratic struggle was not for personal interest. "We are struggling hard to follow the footsteps of Maulana Zafar Ali to establish democracy in the country in its true spirit," he said.

MZAK Chairman Khalid Mehmood and Mujeebur Rehman Shami offered welcome address and highlighted the phases of construction of Maulana's Tomb.

Deputy speaker Punjab Rana Khushnood Ali, Dr Shafiq Julundhary , president CPNA Jameel Athar, Muhammad Tahir, MPA Shaukat Manzoor Cheema, Sh Abdul Majeed, Mustansir Ali Gondal, Rauf Tahir, Allama Prof Muhammad Asif Hazarvi, Asif Ali Bhalli, Masood Ali Khan,  Hafiz Mushtaq hamad and  Raja Asad Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion.

 Earlier, guests and participants of the ceremony laid floral wreaths on the grave of Maulan Zafar Ali Khan and offered Fateha.
