45 defaulters owe Rs470.15m to KWSB

KARACHI – The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has provided the Industrial Association with the list of defaulters for further action. In first phase, the list of defaulters in Landhi and Korangi zones have been provided to Korangi Association of Trade and Industries and Landhi Association of Trade and Industries. These lists comprise of the 45 defaulters who have not paid their dues of Rs470.15 million for over a year. Surti Enterprises, Eagle Textile, Waseem Chemical, OK Footwear are some of the prominent names in the list. The letter issued on the directions of MD KWSB Misbahuddin Farid stated that 45 Industrial bulk consumers were not paying their KWSB bills however; KWSB has ensured the uninterrupted water and sewerage facilities to the industrial zones. In the letter, KWSB has demanded KATII and LATI to ensure that their members clear their dues or else KWSB would be forced to disconnect their water connections. Due to the lack of consumer cooperation, the institution was under financial crises and several appeals had been made by KWSB to pay the bills so that it can ensure the swift provision of water and sewerage facilities. The KWSB has directed the Revenue Department not to accept any kind of pressure and show no reluctance in taking action against the defaulters.  Joint recovery teams of revenue and engineering departments are working through out the city on this one point agenda.
