Govt to provide equal opportunities to special people, says Raja

ISLAMABAD  - Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said the government is committed to taking all possible steps for providing equal opportunities to persons with disabilities in the public and private sectors to utilise their abilities for the progress and prosperity of the country.
He made these remarks during a ceremony to award a cheque of Rs 600,000 to Syed Ibrar Kanwal, chairman, Special Journalists Welfare Committee, at the PM’s House on Monday morning. The amount was granted to Kanwal in recognition of his meritorious services in the field of journalism despite physical disability.
The prime minister called upon the people, government institutions, civil society and philanthropists to make consistent efforts for providing equal opportunities to special persons for their active participation in the national life.
The prime minister also approved a proposal made by Syed Ibrar Kanwal for providing seven laptops to journalists with disabilities so that they could be facilitated in the discharge of their professional work.
The prime minister expressed the confidence that the federal and provincial governments would adopt solid steps for creating an enabling environment for special persons and take into account their special needs.
