QUETTA:  Dozens of disabled people took out a protest rally and observed a black day on the eve of “International Day of Disabled People,” in Quetta on Monday to protest against injustice with them.

Disabled people carrying placards and banners inscribed with different demands and were shouting slogans against the government: “Stop looting us” and “Give us our right.”

Protestors took out a rally from City Hall and marching through different roads of the city they staged demonstration at T&T Square after police barred them from holding demonstration outside Governor’s House.

The demonstration caused massive traffic jam on various roads.

Addressing to the protesters, Union of Disabled Persons Balochistan President Jahangir Khan Kakar said that the disabled people were observing a black day on the eve of “International Day of Disabled People” because they were deprived of their rights by the government departments.

He said that disabled people were not being given government jobs under the quota announced by the government for them but authorities concerned were not taking any notice of the situation.

Kakar regretted that there were more than 50 ministers in Balochistan but none of them bothered to meet disabled persons and address their issues.

Abdul Qudoos, a disabled who participated in rally along with his children, said that nobody cared for rights of disabled people and they were living a hard life. He said that the government was ignorant of their miseries.
