LAHORE – Gunmen stormed the house of a woman police officer in Johar Town area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs2.5 million, police sources claimed on Monday.
Five armed bandits barged into the house of DSP Khalida Pervin in Johar Town precincts, held up the family members at gunpoint and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs2.5 million. The police are investigating.
In another incident, robbers shot at and wounded Muhammad Umar on offering resistance during a road attempt in Garden Town locality. The bandits also snatched a lap-top and cash from the youth and fled away.
In other house robberies, which took place in Model Town, North Cantonment, Sanda, Manawan and Sabzazar police limits, armed bandits collected cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs three million and fled away.
Gunmen riding on motorcycles also looted passersby, families, and motorists in Lytton Road, Samanabad, Shahdara, Islampura and Gulberg police areas and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees. Three cars were stolen away from Race Course, Faisal Town and Township police limits while five motorcycles were also stolen away from Green Town, Gulberg, Shadman, Shalimar, and Race Course police precincts.
Found dead: A constable of Elite police force was found shot dead under mysterious circumstances in Nawan Kot Area. Police said that Muhammad Amjad was present at the house of his friend in Nawan Kot area, when he received a bullet and died instantly. Amjad, said to be the resident of Sargodha, was under training at the Elite police training center. The police are investigating whether the constable was murdered or he sustained a bullet accidentally. Further investigations are underway.
ACCIDENT: A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his two-wheeler rammed into the footpath at main boulevard in Gulberg area, police said on Monday.
Resident of Out-fall road, Kashif Mustafa, riding on a motorcycle was on his way home when his two-wheeler hit the footpath. The man sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to wounds. The police are investigating.
Four people were wounded when five vehicles smashed into each other near Babu Sabu interchange on Monday morning, police said.

TRANSFER: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman on Monday ordered transfer of following police officer.
According to a notification details, Muhammad Azhar SP (Investigation) Bahawalpur has been transferred and posted as Deputy Director Elite Police Training School Lahore. However, he will work as SP Traffic Headquarters Lahore.
