LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notice to police with directions to submit reply about whereabouts of Naveed Butt, an allegedly missing leader of defunct Hizbul Tehrir.

Justice Altaf Ibrahim of the LHC heard the case filed by his wife. The petitioner lady told the judge that her husband was missing for several months. She said she read different press reports about Butt; some reports claimed that her husband had been killed in a drone attack.

She alleged that law enforcement agencies might have picked up her husband and kept him at some unknown place. She requested the court to direct the authorities concerned to trace whereabouts of her husband Naveed Butt and produce him in the court.

After hearing initial arguments, the judge issued notices to police and directed them to submit reply about whereabouts of missing leader of banned outfit Hizbul Tehrir. –Staff Rerporter

The court will resume hearing on Jan 12, 2015.
