ISLAMABAD - Seventh Seed M Mudassar stunned second seed Shahzad Khan in straight sets to enter the Subh-e-Nau National Tennis Championship 2015 semifinals to be played today (Friday) here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex.

Mudassar played excellent game against experienced Shahzad and won first set without any resistance 6-2. He had to face stiff resistance in the second set as Shahzad unleashed variety of tricks from his pocket, but Mudassar remained firm and took the second set 7-5 to send Shahzad packing. Aqeel Khan brushed aside Arham Atique in straight sets to make it into the semifinals, while M Abid had to work hard to overcome resistance of Heera Ashiq. Eighth seed Ahmed Ch also recorded an upset victory against third seed Yasir Khan.

Shahzad and Yasir, however, won their men's doubles quarterfinal against Jibranul Haq and his father Hameedul Haq. Brothers Mudassar and Muzammil played exceptionally well and defeated Rashid Khan and Wakeel Khan in another quarterfinal. Sara Mahboob and Sara Mansoor brushed aside Iqra and Pakeeza respectively in ladies singles quarterfinals. Mehak Khokhar and Shahida Farooq qualified for semifinals after they were awarded walk over.

Saqib Umar had to work hard to overcome Ilham Khan in quarterfinals of boys U-18 as Ilham won the first set but could not maintain his winning streak. Aman Atiq, M Muzammil and Aqib Umer completed semifinal lineup. Hamza bin Rehan, Waleed Anwar, Sami Zeb and Aqib Umar reached semifinals of boys U-14 after beating their respective opponents.
