At least 12 suspected militants were killed in fresh air strikes by security forces in Tirah valley area of Khyber Agency, reported Waqt News Sunday.

Military officials said several hideouts were also destroyed in the airstrikes.

Khyber Agency and North Waziristan are among Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border, rife with homegrown insurgents and foreign militants.

These areas have also been considered home to religious extremist organizations, including Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
