Islamabad - An international conference on Asian History, Culture and Environment: Vernacular and Oriental Paradigms will be inaugurated on Sunday evening at a local hotel

Siddiqul Farooq, Chairman, Evacuee Trust Property Board, and Senator Syed Mushahid Hussain would be the chief guests, says a press release.

The five-day conference being organised by the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR), Centre of Excellence, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad in collaboration with the International Association of Historians of Asia and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), besides others.

Syed Umer Hayat, the Officer in charge NIHCR, said that the conference spans over 10 sessions, each session consisting of three panels to be addressed by leading national and international historians, scholars and academia on Asian history.

Dr Sajid Mehmood Awan, the incumbent President of the International Association of Historians of Asia (IAHA) Informed that on the first day i.e. Monday, December 5, historians and researchers will speak on Varying Perspectives on History Writing; History Writing: Vernacular and Orientalist Paradigms; Historiography and Cultural Mapping; Cultural Mapping and Oral History; Pre-Colonial History of India; Civilization: Indian Sub-Continent under the British; Mysticism: Sufi Culture and Human Development and Religion and Belief Systems.

On the second day, historians would discuss Political History of Pakistan; Continuity and Change in Pakistan’s Patterns of Governance; Kashmir: Past and Present; Heterogeneous Society; Cultural Heritage and Heritance; Architectural, Cultural and Environmental Preservation of Asia and Society and Culture.

On the third day, the historians and writers would discuss Biography: Unsung Heroes of Asia; Literature; Education: The Contemporary Challenges; Foreign Policy and Tourism Department and Media.

Dr Rahat the Secretary General IAHA said the event will provide an opportunity to understand the vernacular and oriental history, culture and complexities of Asia through intellectual discourse and offer solutions for the sustainable peace, progress and prosperity of Asia.
