“The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.”
Ayn Rand who is said to be the spearheading voice of the Conservative or more prominently known as the Republican Party in the United States of America. She perpetuated the philosophy of objectivism and delineated the context on which the individual should be prioritised beyond all measure because the perpetuation and maximisation of individual potential leads to reformation towards an exalted society. Her two most famous books ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and ‘Fountainhead’ are famously considered to essentials for reading in every young adult’s life. Her highly controversial views can be applied on our conventional South Asian lifestyle, where one may selfishly build a disillusioned sense of entitlement. They may feel they have a right to more parking space or an abundance of ketchup packets at the inconvenience of those who are not inclined to bestow the same privileges upon themselves. There are several ways to interpret a particular person’s outlook on life, it would be considerably better to view it in the most unselfish way possible.
