KARACHI - Karachi Whites Khalid Latif slammed innings saving 81 and later home teams pacers Tanvir Ahmed and Malik Aftab equally shared six wickets as Wapda slumped from a winning to a losing position on the third day of the four day seventh round match of Quaid Trophy here at National Stadium on Tuesday. Latif's 133 balls innings that included 12 fours lifted Karachi Whites second innings to 262 all out. And when Wapda began its second innings to get the winning target of 170 runs, pacers Tanvir Ahmed took three for 37 and Malik Aftab picked three for 20 as Wapda slumped to 99 for seven wickets still 71 runs shy of a winning target with three including two tail end wickets in hand. At the close of second days play, Wapda reached a winning position after Karachi Whites second innings collapsed to 102 for four wickets taking just nine runs overall lead over the visitors with two days play remaining . Wapda had taken first innings lead when it scored 226 in the first knock in reply to Karachi Whites total of 133 and reached a certain winning position after the home second innings collapsed. However on third morning, Khalid Latif with responsible batting heralded revival of home innings which was boosted further when Adnan Baig and Tanvir Ahmed added 35 runs each. They added 54 invaluable runs for 8th wicket stand to team's total which reached 262 giving the home team a robust 169 runs and possibly winning lead. Tanvir and Aftab ripped through the top order and the middle to reduce Wapda to six down for 48. However, the visitors managed to save complete route and were 99 for seven still 71 runs away from the winning target.
