KARACHI - Pasban Pakistan held a protest demonstration against the 10% price hike in petroleum products, demanding the authority transferred to the parliament from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). As per detail, a large number of protestors, holding banners and placards inscribed with the humanitarian slogans, gathered outside the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday and chanted slogans against the increase in petrol price. Addressing the people there on the occasion, president Pasban Syed Ashraf Hussain appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto action against the illegal hike in the petrol price whereas the case was under proceeding in Supreme Court, adding that the government had committed the contempt of court that must be come to notice. He said that common man was already being crushed under the prices of sugar, flour, milk, oil, vegetables, rice, lentil, adding that further price hike will leave the common man to die of starvation without any hope. Syed Ashraf Hussain appealed the government to withdraw the decision pertaining to hike in petroleum products in order to provide relief to the common man; otherwise the rulers will have to face bloody revolution leading to decay and destruction of the so-called democratic system.
