FAISALABAD - Special central anti-corruption court judge Tariq Mehmood Iqbal Khan here on Wednesday exonerated Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik from a powers misuse case. It is said that Rehman Malik, in 1999 in his capacity as additional director general FIA, pressurized a person to give statement in favour of the accused, involved in a criminal case. This move on part of Rehman Malik resulted in a case registration against him under section 547/211. However, the co-accused Inspector Shaukat Masood who showed up in the court was released. But when Rehman Malik did not present himself before the court, he was declared proclaimed offender. When the court in last proceedings issued his warrants for arrest he showed up before the court. The court granted him bail during the last hearing and the case was adjourned to February 3. However, he was exonerated from the case on Wednesday. Later on, while talking to media persons, he said: We show due respect to courts and are presenting ourselves before them. Responding to a query, he said the Army can be summoned to control the situation in Karachi.
